I have a good friend that has worked for almost 20 years as a bridge inspector, which is not only dangerous but requires lots of travel. Recently i realized that he was home a lot more and I was concerned that he had lost his job. When I asked him he told me that he had taken a job as an inspector instructor. While there are many types of inspectors, many of the tenets are similar and can be taught without specific experience required. The most pleasant surprise that my friend shared with me is that he makes almost as much money as an instructor as he did as an inspector, all while traveling less and working in much safer surroundings.
