Popularity Of Tattoos

Various tattoo tips available online depict the popularity of the tattoos, and history has proven that these tattoos have been a popular form of body art for thousands of years in Europe and Asia. After the spread of Christianity in Europe there had been efforts to convert tribal people with traditional cultures involved in ritual tattooing, to Western religions. The conversion of these cultures resulted in the use of tattoos almost completely vanishing in Europe for a while. But this was considered a pagan practice and gradually the Europeans began to see tattoos again. The rediscovery took place when Captain Cook and his sailors visited the Marquesas Islands in the 18th Century. The captain had described the tattoos as markings and Polynesians called it “Tataw”. These sailors reinstated the art in Europe, as a popular form of body-art. In the earlier times these sailors had been associated with tattoos Tattooing became a common custom outside of Europe. Even till date tattooing is a tradition amongst indigenous peoples around the world. Now the rage has spread to a lot of other places across the world, and people from all over the globe are getting this art done on their bodies too.
