I have had an ongoing debate with my brothers and sisters for years. They live in the Northern United States while I chose Florida. Each time they rave about colorful leaves I mention the beach. When they call to say how much fun snowball fights are, I tell them I am putting on my suntan lotion. Last year I finally pulled ahead in the long argument when I had solar hot water heaters installed. I literally pay nothing to heat water, even in winter. My family’s utility bills spike in both summer and winter. No matter what season we are in, I have the sun and lots of lovely, warm water. As I have smugly mentioned to everyone, it is one of Florida’s perks.
